Sweet Swim on the Sweet Trail

Longmarsh

Thinking of taking a walk with your dog in Durham? Wagon Hill is the first place most people would suggest. Parking is easy and no need for a leash before 10am. Fortunately, this is just one of the many great options our town has to offer.

If your head from Durham towards Newmarket on 108, take a left at Longmarsh Road. In about 2 miles, the pavement gives way to dirt. Drive a little further and you'll find a small parking spot and the entrance to the Sweet Trail. The trail runs 4 miles though the Crommet Creek Conservation Area and ends at the Great Bay Estuary in Newmarket. You can find a trail map at greatbaypartnership.org

While you do need to keep your dog on a leash, the trails are easy to navigate . On second thought, one possible exception to the leash rule is if your dog likes to swim.

A big thank you is due to the town of Durham, The Nature Conservancy, New Hampshire Fish and Game, and the Society for the Protection of NH Forests for working to protect this area.
